    The Radical Diet is a ketogenic diet. The first and still the best ketogenic diet, a diet that I used personally in my competitive years from the 1970s, and then in my Bariatric Clinic almost 4 decades ago.

    A Short Personal History

    When I was competing internationally in powerlifting in the 1970s and 1980s, I competed in many weight classes, from 132 lbs to the 220 lbs. My natural and best weight class was at 165 lbs, where my strength per pound of body weight was optimal. I usually kept my weight between 175 to 180 lbs so when competing in the 132 lb and 148 lb weight classes I first went on what I later called the Radical Diet until I was within 10 lbs of the weight class I wanted to compete in. I then went on my phase shift diets to improve my body composition even further by maximizing my lean body mass and minimizing my percentage fat levels.

    When competing at 132 lbs, I was at less than 3% body fat by the time of competition. After competing at this weight class for over a year I moved back up to the 148 lb weight class and progressively moved upward in weight classes. In competing in the 220 lb weight class I was at 10% body fat. I then moved back down through the weight classes and finished my competitive years in the 165 lb weight class, staying between 5-6% body fat when competing.

    The Radical Diet

    The Radical Diet is a strict low carb, higher protein, low calorie diet that I first started using in my Bariatric Clinic almost four decades ago.

    Unlike my Phase Shift Diets such as the Anabolic Diet, The Anabolic Solution for Bodybuilders, the Anabolic Solution for Bodybuilders, and the Metabolic Diet, the Radical Diet is a strict, low calorie ketogenic diet. In my Bariatric clinic it’s the diet that I started my patients on in over two decades, in the 1980’s and 1990’s. Once they lost a significant amount of weight, I switched them over to the Metabolic Diet, and the Anabolic Solution diets, depending on their goals.

    The Radical Diet has always championed fat loss as against weight loss, although both usually occur in tandem. However, the best way to lose weight is to target the loss of body fat while maintaining muscle mass since this makes losing body fat easier. It’s also the best way to also keep the weight off.

    One of the best features of the Radical Diet is that it gets fast results not only on weight and overall fat loss but on fat loss in problem areas that can be resistant to the usual diets.

    As you’ll see, one of the first things you’ll notice when you’re on the Radical Diet is that you’ll start losing weight and fat where you’ll notice it the most, around your middle. You’ll immediately see a difference in your waistline and the way your clothes fit. You’ll also notice the general loss of body fat including problem areas such as the hips and thighs for women and the abdomen and “love handles” in men.

    The reason behind these dramatic losses is because of the macronutrient composition of the diet and the low calorie content. The combination of high dietary protein, low dietary carbohydrates, moderate dietary fat intake, and low overall calories, lead to the breakdown and burning off of body fat, a decrease in appetite, increased energy output, and to a rapid improvement in body composition.

    This edition of the Radical Diet also has much more information, both practical and theoretical, explaining how and why my innovative phase shift diets work to maximize body composition. This information includes a look at the scientific and medical evidence, especially the latest research, that back up my theories.

    The bottom line is that this edition of the Radical Diet is geared to help you lose weight, mostly as body fat, as quickly as possible while at the same time maintaining muscle. The end result is a fitter, trimmer body that you can be proud of.
